HISTORY

Kiesha’s Preserve is a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to Conservation, Community and Education.

Our mission is to enhance wildlife habitat and connectivity while promoting native wildlife success in the Western U.S. We assist landowners in placing properties into Conservation Leases and Conservation Easements, facilitate the procurement of funding and contractor services for wildlife-friendly fence retrofit on public and working lands. Additionally, we provide outdoor experience, basic ecology and wildlife education as well as teach our community how to sustainably grow, preserve and store wholesome, organic fruits and vegetables.

Kiesha’s Preserve is actively engaged in ecosystem restoration and protection community education, and partnerships to provide mitigation offsets for regional development. At the Preserve we conduct research and monitoring to characterize plant and animal communities to understand their response to climatic and other factors.

Acquisition of property in Idaho began in 1993 with the purchase of the original 20 acres on Paris Creek in Bear Lake County. To safeguard wildlife habitat from development, we have acquired additional land, totaling 928 acres in Idaho and 82 acres near Bondurant, Wyoming. In 2006, 824 acres of the Idaho property were placed in a conservation easement through the NRCS Grassland Reserve Program. Currently, we are working to place an additional 100 acres of the Idaho property and 70 acres of the Wyoming property into Conservation Easements.

In 2019, we purchased a third-acre lot in the town of Paris, Idaho, where we built a shop, a large greenhouse, and 3 large hot houses. KM Ranch Farm, Flowers and Produce operated until the fall of 2025, providing the public with farm and ranch supplies, annual and perennials plants and locally grown organic fruits and vegetables. Unfortunately, the store closed due to economic challenges and competition from larger companies. The existing infrastructure is now utilized as an organic fruit and vegetable farm and serves as a hands-on classroom for our community’s food and preservation education through Kiesha’s Preserve.

On April 16th, 2024, Kiesha’s Preserve received an IRS Determination Letter confirming our 501(c)(3) status, allowing us to operate as a non-profit organization. We established a diverse and knowledgeable Board of Directors, including ecologists, range scientists, educators, industrial professionals, wildlife advocates and Native representatives. The Preserve’s Executive Director and Assistant Director reside at the Idaho property and are involved in daily operations and management.

Our main office is located in Paris, Idaho, with a satellite office in Bondurant, Wyoming. For more information connect with us Facebook and Instagram or contact Jason at the number listed below.

KIESHA

Kiesha’s Preserve is named after Kiesha, an akita who taught us to look at nature through her eyes on our daily forays on the Preserve. She and her family carried our supplies and equipment on extended survey trips into wilderness areas.
